If you are a teacher, you NEED our "Be the Bee" program!
We offer in-house field trips to teach your students
honey bee culture.
Why is that important information?
Because our ecosystem as well as most of our food depends on honey bees. Plus, they are a classic example of community life and sustainability.
Our "Be the Bee" science program lasts 50 minutes and covers:
Life cycle (with posters and narratives)
Habitats (with actual retired managed beehives, a limb from a real bee tree and a skep as an example of a historical habitat.
Colony life of the honey bee illustrated by volunteers with our props.
Jobs of the worker bee with volunteers with props.
Quick look at the beekeeper with equipment.
Products of the beehive (honey and beeswax).
This engaging and interactive presentation meets many of your STEM requirements and state science academic standards.
Our fee also covers:
a honey straw and a bee pencil for each student
a teacher pack with activity sheets for further study
a pollinator poster for each participating classroom
a gift from the beehive for each participating teacher
All this makes our "Be the Bee" program one of the most sought after school programs in the area.
